Trombonist Ilja Reijngoud sees other qualities in the music too. “It’s true, you have to get accustomed to the time signature, but to me the quality of the compositions and the improvisations are much more important.”

De stukken zijn ook bijzonder. Er zijn weinig drummers die zulke mooie en complete stukken schrijven.
Het Vijfkwarts Sextet is muzikaal interessant en bovendien heel open en sociaal. Geen jazzpolitie, geen zure gezichten, geen bebop licks die 100% gegarandeerd harmonisch, technisch en melodisch schadevrij moeten zijn. Ik hoop dat we gauw weer veel gaan spelen.
